Graeme Samuel joins ANU Council

Former Chairman of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission Graeme Samuel AC has been appointed a member of The Council of The Australian National University. Mr Samuel will take his place on the Council as one of the seven members appointed by the Minister on the recommendation of the Nominations Committee of Council. He replaces Justice Annabelle Bennett AO, who stepped down as a council member after 15 years. His first Council meeting will be on 23 September. Mr Samuel joins Council following a distinguished and significant career in both the corporate and government sectors. Among his many achievements are roles as Associate Member of the Australian and Media Authority, President of the National Competition Council, Chairman of the Melbourne and Olympics Parks Trust, Commissioner of the Australian Football League and Chairman of Opera Australia. Mr Samuel took on the role of Chairman of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) in 2003.
