Guido Pintacuda, awarded the "Étoiles de l’Europe 2017*" prize

The fifth edition of the «Étoiles de l'Europe » prize - researchers rewarded for their European commitment in the framework of the 4th HORIZON 2020 Forum. Guido Pintacuda was rewarded for the European project ITN "pNMR", along with the 12 other men and women "who have chosen Europe and showed the capacities of the French teams to emerge as leaders at the head of extensive networks". From 2013 to 2016, Guido Pintacuda was the coordinator of the ITN project (Initial Training Network) "pNMR" (FP7-PEOPLE-2012-ITN) comprising of 13 academic and industrial research partners. The project entitled "Paramagnetic NMR: Pushing the Envelope of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy for Paramagnetic Systems" (pNMR, ITN Marie Curie Actions, 2013 - 2016) helped build a European network for scientific training and exchange, centered on the development and application of new methods in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy of systems containing paramagnetic metals. This European network is comprised of 9 academic research groups and 4 industrial companies. (cf. http://pnmr.eu) The RMN occupies a central role among the range of analytical techniques used today to characterize matter on an atomic scale. A multidisciplinary, non-invasive technique, RMN enables you to investigate the local environment around each atom, and can be applied to a wide range of samples: liquids, solids, biological tissues or small organisms. While routine analyses are commonly carried out in academic and industrial research, recent advances in methodology and instrumentation today revolutionize this spectroscopic method and increase its potential to raise key analytical points on a societal level.
