Former leader of the Liberal Party The Honourable John Hewson AM and former Senior Advisor to Prime Minister Gough Whitlam, Mr Michael Delaney have been appointed Honorary Professorial Fellows by The Australian National University (ANU). Hewson and Mr Delaney will hold positions within the ANU Crawford School of Public Policy. ANU Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Young said the appointments would bring together two great public policy minds with the expertise of academics at ANU. "It is with great pleasure that I welcome John Hewson and Michael Delaney to the University," he said. "Both men have played extensive roles in government and business in the course of their distinguished and varied careers. Their experience and knowledge in public policy matters will add to the public policy expertise at ANU and build on the University's contribution to areas of national and international importance." Hewson was leader of the Liberal Party of Australia between 1990 and 1994. Since then he has run his own investment banking business and served on the boards of several businesses and charities including General Security Australia Insurance Brokers, Osteoporosis Australia and the Arthritis Research Taskforce.
