The number of Quota 2 applicants for both the Undergraduate and Graduate programmes at DTU has risen significantly.
Once again this year, studying engineering at DTU is proving popular. The number of Quota 2 applications for DTU’s study programmes has risen by 13% compared to last year. For some programmes, the increase is as high as between 30 and 80%.
In total, 5,078 people have applied for admission to DTU via Quota 2 this year, compared to 4,505 in 2025. At the same time, the number of first-choice applications has risen by 12% from 1,985 to 2,222. This is the highest increase in the country, where applications for STEM programmes have risen by 2% overall.
The continued rise in interest in DTU’s study programmes pleases Lars D. Christoffersen, Dean of Studies and Student Affairs:
"The impressive increases, which are evident in both the Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Science programmes, tell me that our programmes are highly relevant to young people and that word of their high quality has spread. We take pride in educating Europe’s most competent engineers, and I believe that the young people we see today view engineering as the way to solve problems and create solutions," he says.
An increase of up to 80%
Looking specifically at the Bachelor of Engineering programmes , the overall increase is as much as 15%. Here, there is growing interest in the Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering and International Business programmes in particular. Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering have also received more applications than last year.
For DTU’s Bachelor of Science programmes , the increase in applicants is 12%. And the number of applicants listing one of these programmes as their first choice has risen by 15%.
With a total of 1,066 applicants, General Engineering remains the most sought-after of DTU’s bachelor’s programmes. However, the largest increase among the bachelor’s programmes is in Mechanical Engineering, where 200 have applied this year compared to 111 in 2025, an increase of 80%. The programmes Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics and Earth and Space Physics and Engineering have also received more than 30% more applications this year.
Quota 2 applications
Applicants under Quota 2 are assessed on factors other than their average grade from upper secondary education alone. Educational institutions allocate places under Quota 2 following a specific assessment of the applicant and based on various selection criteria, which vary from programme to programme.
The total number of applicants for higher education programmes will be published on 5 July 2026, which is the deadline for applying for admission under Quota 1, where applicants are assessed solely on the basis of their grade point average.
All applicants under both Quota 1 and Quota 2 will receive a response to their application on 28 July.
