Jan Traas, recipient of the 2015 INRA Award for Scientific Excellence

Head of the Joint Research Unit for Plant Reproduction and Development ( RDP ) at the ENS de Lyon, Jan Traas has been awarded the 2015 INRA Award for Scientific Excellence. Throughout his scientific career, Jan Traas has explored the mechanisms that determine the growth and differentiation of plant organs. He developed a groundbreaking approach with an integrative vision of this complex process. The 2015 INRA Award for Scientific Excellence recognises the international impact his research has had on the field. Thierry Mandon, French Junior Minister for Higher Education and Research, and François Houllier, President of the opened the INRA Awards ceremony. Along with Frédéric Dardel, President of INRA's Scientific Advisory Board and of the international INRA Awards jury, Olivier Le Gall, Deputy Director General for Scientific Affairs at INRA, and Claude Ronceray, Deputy Director General for Research Support Services at INRA, they presented the awards to the six winners for their commitment and results in various areas of agricultural research.
