Journalism ranked amongst ‘world’s elite’

Journalism at Cardiff University is officially ranked amongst the world's best according to the latest world rankings published today (Wednesday 8th March, 2017). Now in their seventh year, the QS World University Rankings by Subject is the definitive guide to the quality of subjects at universities worldwide. The rankings are compiled by evaluating 4,438 universities across the world and examining some 1,117 institutions in total. In total, over 127m citation attributions and 18,900 programs are analysed. According to this year's rankings journalism is Cardiff University's highest ranked subject (at 34th) and has broken in to the world's top 50 elite institutions in the Communication and Media Studies subject category for the very first time. Professor Stuart Allan, Head of Cardiff University's School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies, said: "We are delighted to see the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject confirm our status as one of the world's leading Schools in our subject area.
