Leading UK judge to present annual law lecture

One of the UK’s top judges is to deliver this year’s annual Pilgrim Fathers Lecture at the University of Plymouth. Lord Justice Toulson will speak on the subject of Judicial Appointments when he delivers the prestigious lecture on Thursday 3 December (6.30pm, Robbins Conference Centre). He is the latest in a long list of distinguished members of the legal profession to present the Pilgrim Fathers Lecture which this year marks its 16th anniversary. Plymouth Law Society President, Tracey Baker said; “It is our great privilege to welcome Lord Justice Toulson who is a distinguished judge of the Court of Appeal and former Chairman of the leading law reform advisory body, the Law Commission. As a Commissioner of the Judicial Appointments Commission, he will be uniquely placed to provide a detailed insight into the changing world of judicial appointment. Professor Simon Payne, Head of Plymouth Law School at the University of Plymouth said; “The Pilgrim Fathers Lecture has an impressive record of attracting the highest-profile members of the legal profession. Lord Justice Toulson will continue this proud tradition and will be an excellent speaker on a fascinating subject.
