A one-ton wooden artwork by internationally-renowned Indigenous artist Gulumbu Yunupingu was installed in the Hedley Bull Centre on Saturday. The artwork, a painting on Jarrah wood spanning seven metres by three metres entitled Garrurru (Sail) , was lowered into the building by crane through the roof. Mr Ian Duff of Facilities and Services said the installation was a massive undertaking. "Due to the size and scale of the artwork, the installation was quite a complex and delicate process. The skylight had to be removed, and the artwork had to be carefully lowered by the crane, which was located outside the building without line of sight to the workface. A team of several tradespeople were required to mount the work on the steel support frame and then lift and fix it into position. From start to finish it took more than four hours," said Mr Duff.
