Luc Taerwe - Prof. Luc Taerwe, director of the China Platform at Ghent University, has received the Shanghai Science & Technology Award. A total of 308 scientific breakthroughs and distinguished researchers were honored at an awards ceremony at the Shanghai Exhibition Center in Jing'an district in Shanghai. Since the 2019 awards, scientists based overseas have been allowed to compete directly with locals. Belgian engineer Luc Taerwe, professor at Ghent University and director of the China Platform, received the award for deepening international exchange and cooperation between China and other countries. The China Platform is the central point of contact within Ghent University for all matters relating to China. It directs and supports cooperation initiatives in education and research from within UGent and by external parties (government, private or third parties).
