March for Science

March for Science is a citizens' initiative from the United States, launched by private citizens and researchers who want to stand up for the importance of science and research-based knowledge in society. Particular emphasis is placed on the conception that science knows no borders and that its strength and characteristics are diversity and openness. Lund University supports the March for Science. At a time when fact resistance, alternative facts and false news regularly appear in the public debate, we want to defend source criticism, critical thinking and a scholarly approach. Our society is based on results from research. As for many other Swedish organisations and businesses, science is a cornerstone of our activities. Society and researchers need each other to cope with the challenges facing humanity.
