Master harpsichord maker to deliver new instrument
The Dutch master harpsichord maker Cornelis Bom will deliver a brand new Ruckers harpsichord to the Melbourne Conservatorium's Early Music Studio this Saturday 26 March at 1pm. The harpsichord will be Cornelis Bom's 199th instrument made over a half-century career of outstanding workmanship. Bom instruments are owned and played by harpsichordists around the world and are housed in some of the world's most distinguished musical institutions, such as the Rimsky-Korsakov Saint Petersburg State Conservatory. The University will celebrate the arrival of the new instrument with a public concert. The concert will feature music and dialogue with Cornelis Bom and performances by harpsichordists Elizabeth Anderson, Calvin Bowman, David Macfarlane, Ann Murphy, Donald Nicolson and John O?Donnell. The program will feature music by Bach, Froberger, Muffat, Weckmann, Kerll, Couperin, & Bohm.
