PA 210/09 The University of Nottingham will get the local community talking this autumn - in foreign languages. The University's Language Centre is throwing open its doors to the community and offering a unique range of evening courses in more than 10 languages. With the effects of the recession still being felt, there is a strong emphasis on re-skilling and training, and these courses could open up new career opportunities. The courses are also ideal for those who want to learn a language for personal enjoyment or travel. Subject to demand classes are being offered in; Modern Standard Arabic, French, German, Modern Greek, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish and British Sign Language. The Language Centre is part of the School of Modern Languages and Cultures and is based in the Trent Building on University Park campus. Head of the Language Centre, Maryse Wright, said: "Language learning support facilities are available to students and staff at the University, whether they are registered on a language course or not.
