The Australian National University (ANU) starts accepting applications today under its new admissions scheme that aims to see more talented students from regional Australia study at the national university. By opening the application process in March, ANU will start making offers in August 2019 for students beginning their tertiary studies in 2020. The main pillars of the revised admissions scheme are prioritising places for students from regional, remote, Indigenous or low socio-economic backgrounds and assessing a student's commitment to their family, school or community as well as their academic ability. ANU Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Grady Venville said an ANU student is more than their ATAR score. "Our aim is to have our student community reflect the Australian community. This means making an ANU education more accessible and attainable to students from all over the country with the will and ability to succeed," Professor Venville said. The launch today of the new admissions platform makes applying for course admission, accommodation and scholarships much easier for students.
