New boardroom is tribute to outgoing Chairman
Durham University will today commemorate the contribution of a long-standing friend and alumna by officially giving her name to the boardroom in its new Law School. Mrs Anne Galbraith is a lawyer who was educated at Blyth Grammar School before progressing to Durham University (King's College). She was a lay member of University Council for 12 years until 31 July 2012 and its Chairman for the last six of those years. Following an academic career at Northumbria University Mrs Galbraith has pursued a distinguished career in public service. She is currently Chairman of the Valuation Tribunal Service and a non-executive member of the NHS Business Services Authority. The Anne Galbraith boardroom is a key element of Durham University's Law School, which is housed in a new £50m landmark development on the University's Mountjoy (lower) site in Durham. It is one of the feature rooms within the building and cantilevers over the Law School entrance The room has been lined in cherry timber panelling, with a boardroom table and chairs to match.
