New Finance Director for University of Plymouth
The University of Plymouth has appointed a new member to its senior team. Sarah Jones, Director of Finance, took up her position on Monday 1 June following a year as Acting Director of Finance, during which she played a key leadership role in the organisation's strategic review. Sarah, 44, studied psychology at Sheffield University and started her career at Ernst & Young, where she trained to be a chartered accountant. Having qualified, she took up her first post in higher education, in the finance department at Sheffield University, where she held a variety of roles before moving to Plymouth in 1998 as Head of Financial Accounting at the University. She was promoted to Deputy Director of Finance at Plymouth in 2004, becoming Acting Director in July 2008. In recent years, Sarah was the finance lead in the University's team that successful bid to provide officer training for Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth. She also led the implementation of the University-wide finance system.
