New Head of Education and Social Work appointed. The University has appointed a new Head of the School of Education and Social Work (ESW). Professor Brian Hudson will join ESW in November 2012 from the University of Dundee, where he is Professor of Education and Associate Dean for Research in the School of Education, Social Work and Community Education. He is also the founding director of the cross-university Centre for Research and Innovation in Teaching and Learning at Dundee. Prior to joining Dundee in 2009, Professor Hudson was Professor in Educational Work at Umeå University in Sweden, where he continues as a visiting professor. From 1987-2006 Professor Hudson worked at Sheffield Hallam University, where he held a personal Chair in Education and during which time he was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship. He was a secondary school teacher of mathematics for 15 years until moving into teacher education.
