He will take office at the beginning of October 2013 following the retirement of Barry Everitt Sc.D. F.R.S. F.Med.Sci., who has been Master since 2003. Grimmett is the Professor of Mathematical Statistics and currently a Fellow of Churchill College. His research interests are in probability theory, combinatorial theory, stochastic models in statistical physics and probabilistic number theory. He enjoys playing the harpsichord and hiking in deserts and mountain ranges around the world. He is married to Rosine and has a son, Hugo, who is studying for a D.Phil.
