Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Young at the launch event.
The future direction of The Australian National University was outlined today with the launch of a new strategic plan. Seven months after his appointment to lead ANU, Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Young today issued ANU by 2020 , to guide the development of the University over the next decade. Professor Young said: "The plan is focused on boosting excellence in three key areas: research, education and our role as a public policy resource for the nation and the region. "ANU by 2020 contains an ambitious but achievable set of goals and targets. It will build the University's profile as Australia's national university and Australia's finest university. "The plan recognises the increasingly competitive national and global environment and the need to innovate to remain the university of choice for staff, students, government, business and other groups. "By 2020 ANU will be the unequivocal national leader in contribution to public policy analysis and formulation.
