Excellent research is an important factor for the THE Rankings. Image: Andreas Heddergott / TUM TUM ranks among the top three in the EU - The latest edition of the THE World University Rankings places the Technical University of Munich (TUM) among the three best universities in the EU. Among German universities, TUM is again ranked second. TUM has moved up two places as compared with the previous year and is now ranked 41st. As LMU is placed 32nd, the two Munich universities are once again at the top in Germany. In the European Union, TUM reaches the third best position behind the Swedish Karolinska Institute (36th). The list is headed by universities from the UK and the USA.
