Campus news - For the design of a new school building in Diedorf, Germany, the TUM professors Hermann Kaufmann and Florian Nagler have received two major awards: the German architecture award and the German timber construction award. The joint efforts of the architectural offices Hermann Kaufmann ZT and Florian Nagler Architekten have met with a two-fold success: after winning the German timber construction award, the architects have received a further accolade in the form of the German architecture award. In the citation, Dr. Barbara Hendricks, the German Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Construction and Nuclear Safety said: "As a model project for a PlusEnergy building, the new Schmuttertal Gymnasium in Diedorf is an impressive and forward-looking example of sustainable architecture. The architects have created open learning landscapes ideally suited to fostering the school's new pedagological concept." The four-part complex, built using timber-frame construction, has room for 1,000 pupils.
