The Stanford University Board of Trustees announced the election of four new members who will begin six-year terms on Oct. The four new trustees are DeAngela Burns-Wallace, secretary of administration and chief information technology officer for the state of Kansas; Lily Sarafan, co-founder and chief executive officer of Home Care Assistance; Elizabeth "Bess" Weatherman, a special limited partner of Warburg Pincus; and Maurice Werdegar, chief executive officer of Western Technology Investment. The new trustees were elected through the alumni nominations process. Every three years, the Stanford Alumni Association's Alumni Committee on Trustee Nominations and the board's Committee on Trusteeship presents four names to the board for election. A total of eight seats on the board are reserved for trustees nominated through this process. "We're pleased to welcome these new trustees, whose range of perspectives, deep expertise in their respective fields and wealth of volunteer experience will bring singular voices to the board's deliberations during a time of unique challenges and opportunities for Stanford," said Jeffrey Raikes, chair of the Stanford University Board of Trustees.
