Strong UQ representation on Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games Board

The University of Queensland's position as a front-runner to help take Queensland to the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games has been further bolstered, with three of the newly-appointed Organising Committee Board members possessing strong ties to the University. This exciting news came less than a week after new university rankings revealed UQ was second in the world for Sports-Related subjects. UQ Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry AO said it was fitting Associate Professor Sarah Kelly OAM , from UQ's Business School, had been named amongst the final members to make up the Board of the Brisbane Organising Committee for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. "Dr Kelly is an award-winning sporting expert, known across the globe for her research, teaching and consulting, and it came as no surprise she has been named on the team to help take us to the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games," Professor Terry said. "Last year she was awarded an Order of Australian Medal for her services to sports administration and tertiary education, and having now been selected by the Commonwealth and Queensland governments to the Board is an amazing achievement." Professor Terry also congratulated two UQ alumni who had also been named on the Board, including Engineering alumnus Andrew N. Liveris AO , who will be the Board's President, and Brisbane businessman and Master of Business Administration alumnus Brett Clark. "Mr Liveris has a wealth of experience and knowledge that will help ensure Queensland is ready to host the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games," she said.
