Sussex advertises for Lead Chaplain. Recruitment is under way for a Lead Chaplain for the University of Sussex, following the retirement of Revd Canon Dr Gavin Ashenden earlier this year. An advertisement appeared online this week for "an inspirational leader to provide a focus for the spiritual life of the University community". The Chaplaincy provides pastoral and spiritual support for students and staff of all faiths and none, and one of the key responsibilities of the post is to provide opportunities for worship, reflection and prayer. The Chaplaincy is based in the Meeting House, with services spanning a range of Christian denominations. There is also a Muslim Student Centre on campus. The previous four Chaplains at Sussex have all been Christians (a Baptist minister, a Presbyterian, a minister of the United Reformed Church and an Anglican priest).
