The digital classroom – a new world-class lab

Last Thursday, on 8 November, Lund University’s new large-scale laboratory – the digital classroom – was inaugurated. It is the largest and most well-equipped lab of its kind in the world and attracts researchers from many countries. Using 25 eye trackers to measure eye movement, it is possible to analyse how children learn and how they solve different problems. The research is expected to lead to new teaching materials adapted to each child's abilities and interests, which will be of particular help to those who struggle in school. The digital classroom is housed in a former lecture theatre in the Humanities Laboratory at the Centre for Languages and Literature. The researchers there have existing collaborations with a number of schools. Many teachers are interested in bringing their pupils to take part in the research.
