UCL President & Provost knighted in Queen’s Birthday Honours

Professor Malcolm Grant, President & Provost of UCL, has been knighted in the Queen's Birthday Honours for 2013 for services to higher education. Professor Grant is a barrister, environmental lawyer, academic and public servant. He took up the post of President & Provost, the principal academic and administrative officer of UCL, in 2003. Professor Grant has a distinguished record of public service. He was awarded the CBE in 2003 for services to local government and planning law. He has held numerous public appointments, including as Chair of the Local Government Commission for England (1996-2001), Chair of the Agriculture and Environment Biotechnology Commission (2000-2005) and Chair of The Russell Group of UK research universities (2006-2009). He is also currently a British Business Ambassador (appointed by the Prime Minister in 2008 and reappointed in 2010), and member of the Higher Education Funding Council for England (2008).
