UCL rises 8 places in THE rankings

UCL has risen to number 14 from 22 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2015-16. The THE World University Rankings are generated from five 'pillars', each of which represents a key area of higher education excellence: teaching, research, citations, industry income, and international outlook. These, in turn, are made up of thirteen metrics. The pillars are blended in the following proportions: teaching 30%, research 30%, citations 30%, international outlook 7.5%, industry income 2. UCL's strongest pillar was research, where it ranked in the first decile (9th in the world). The university also saw significant gains in citations and teaching. In the UK, UCL's overall ranking places it in 4th place out of 78 institutions.
