UCLA’s Architecture and Urban Design Dept. opens ’Rumble’ exposition
WHAT: "RUMBLE" highlights work by architecture and urban design faculty, students and alumni engaged in the shifting edge of contemporary critical thinking and design innovation at UCLA. The exposition features projects completed by students in conjunction with departmental faculty during 30-week research studios, special topics studios and technology seminars, as well as work by department alumni. The exposition includes 6,500 square feet of year-end studio and program installations that redefine the provocative opportunities confronting the next generation of architects. WHO: Department chair Hitoshi Abe will lead a preview and walk-through of the exposition. On view will be studios led by Abe and UCLA faculty members Thom Mayne, Neil Denari, Greg Lynn, Sylvia Lavin, Craig Hodgetts, Georgina Huljich, Jason Payne, Mark Mack, Barton Myers, Ben Refuerzo, Dagmar Richter, Heather Roberge, Roger Sherman, Benjamin Ball, Jeffrey Inaba, Marcelo Spina, Olivier Touraine and Kivi Sotamaa. Alumni work on view will include projects by Rebecca Binder (1975), Ramiro Diaz Granados (2003), Frederick Fisher (1976), Ming Fung (1980), Robert Hale (1981), Hank Koning (1981), Julie Eizenberg (1981), Elena Manferdini (2000), Ben Mickus (2003), John Ruble (1976), Aaron Sprecher (2002), Patrick Tighe (1993), Billie Tsien (1977) and Tom Wiscombe (1999).
