University community shows its support for the Seagulls this weekend. With Brighton and Hove Albion only one game away from winning the Sky Bet Championship, the University has thrown its full support behind its Falmer neighbours in the Amex Staduim. The Vice-Chancellor Adam Tickell has written to the Chairman of Brighton & Hove Albion, Tony Bloom to pass on his congratulations on being promoted as well as good luck for the game against Bristol City on Saturday, saying: "Judging by the buzz in the city and around Falmer, I know that many staff and students will be cheering for the Seagulls against Bristol City this weekend." If the Seagulls win against Bristol City (or if Newcastle United lose on Friday), they will be crowned the winners of the Sky Bet Championship, having already achieved automatic promotion to the Premier League next season. The Vice-Chancellor praised the entire club for the impact the Premier League promotion will have on the people of Brighton & Hove: "The energy and pride that is obvious to see in all parts of the city is testament to the determination and focus of your players and the leadership provided by yourself and the management team. What fantastic role models your team are for the young people in our city and beyond." Seagulls fans from both Sussex and Brighton Universities have come together to celebrate Brighton & Hove Albion's success with staff and students proclaiming their support for the club in a heartfelt video.
