University of Melbourne receives international AACSB business school accreditation

The University of Melbourne's Faculty of Business & Economics has become the first Victorian University to be given accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Business Schools International. The University also becomes just the second in Australia to earn accreditations by AACSB for both business and accounting. In conferring accreditation, John J. Fernandes, president and chief executive officer to AACSB International said 'AACSB accreditation represents the highest achievement for an educational institution that awards business degrees. Dean Margaret Abernethy and the faculty, directors, and administrative staff of the University of Melbourne are to be commended for their role in earning accreditation', he said. Professor Abernethy, Dean of the Faculty of Business & Economics, says the accreditation is recognition of the continued hard work the Faculty has done to increase the quality of its education offerings. 'AACSB accreditation is further confirmation of the Faculty's position as a dynamic centre for the education of future leaders and researchers.' ?Our emphasis on excellence in research and teaching produces a vibrant community of scholars and provides our students an outstanding learning experience. To achieve both business and accounting accreditation from the AACSB for all our programs is a major achievement and a formal recognition of our commitment to excellence.
