University open today - but roads and public transport affected

University open today - but roads and public transport affected. The University is expected to be open today - we have reports of some trees down but this has not affected buildings. Where travel for individual members of staff is disrupted then some activities first thing may of course be affected. There have already been some individual cancellation of lectures - please check Sussex Direct. There is travel disruption across the area, with no trains running until 9am or later: http://www.southernrailway.com/southern/news/monday-28-october/ http://www.firstcapitalconnect.co.uk/plan-your-journey/major-disruption/ Some buses are affected, but buses are travelling to and from campus http://www.buses.co.uk/news/story.aspx?articleid=2662 On the roads, The Highways Agency says drivers should check weather forecast and road conditions and leave extra time if travel conditions are poor and be prepared to delay journeys if the weather becomes severe. http://www.highways.gov.uk/traffic-information/ http://www.highways.gov.uk/news/breaking-news 7.20am By: Rob Read - Last updated: Monday, 28 October 2013 - General.
