UQ athletes win six medals at Rio Paralympic Games

University of Queensland student Brenden Hall has won gold, silver and bronze medals at the 2016 Rio Paralympics, with UQ-affiliated athletes claiming an additional three medals from the games. The last of the group finished competing over the weekend and will soon be welcomed home. Read this UQ News story for the full list of UQ athletes. Full results: Brenden Hall - Swimming (S9 and SM9 classes) The Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Sciences student and UQ Sports Achievement Scholarship recipient claimed back-to-back Paralympic gold medals in the S9 400m Freestyle. The 2012 UQ Blue winner dominated the event, achieving in a time of 4.12.73 to defend his Paralympic title from London in 2012. The 23-year-old also won a silver medal in the S9 100m Freestyle, finishing second behind Australian teammate Tim Disken. Brenden won his third medal of the games with a third-place finish in the S9 100m Backstroke.
