UQ showcases projects by tomorrow’s architects

New design proposals for Brisbane landmarks will feature at the State Library of Queensland this month as part of The University of Queensland's student architecture exhibition, CROP'15 . This year's event will include alternative proposals for the Queen's Wharf Casino development and potential designs for the Old Brisbane Museum building in Bowen Hills. Head of UQ's School of Architecture Professor Sandra O'Grady said the exhibition was an opportunity for the public and industry to view creative design solutions by UQ's architecture students. "We've set our students some of the most difficult and complex projects faced by architects today, and they've thrown back answers that range from the optimistically fantastic to the darkly gothic," she said. "We're showing the boldest projects from across the year with the hope that some ideas might be game-changers." UQ School of Architecture lecturer and exhibition co- Doug Neale said the exhibition focussed on projects by Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Architectural Design students. "The exhibited projects are selected from our newly structured Masters' programme, where students work in six diversely themed studios and a master class," he said.
