UQ’s rise to 45th in the world further confirms the University’s status as a research and learning powerhouse
The University of Queensland has pushed into the world's top 50 on another university league table - this time the 2018 US News Best Global Universities assessment of the world's top 1250 universities. UQ Acting Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Aidan Byrne said UQ's rise to rank 45 - up from 52 - was a confirmation of the University's status as a research and learning powerhouse. "This ranking follows on UQ's strong performance in other respected rankings, such as the National University of Taiwan's Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities, where UQ this month rose to rank 41, up from 72 five years ago," he said. "That ranking and this latest table recognise UQ as one of Australia's top three universities, along with the universities of Melbourne and Sydney. "My congratulations go to everyone in the UQ community who has worked hard over many years to build the solid base of research and learning that is earning international plaudits," Professor Byrne said. The Best Global Universities ranking highlights UQ's performance in key academic subject areas: Last month UQ maintained its position within the top echelons of research institutions in the world, ranking 65th globally and fourth in Australia in the Times Higher Education University Ranking.
