Using knowledge and skills to beat the recession

Enterprising graduates and professionals looking to ride out the recession are expected to attend the University of Plymouth's first-ever Postgraduate and Professional Open Evening. Graduates and professionals are being invited onto campus on Tuesday 12 May from 4.30pm to 7pm to find out more about the wide range of postgraduate and professional courses that are available at the university. The event will be held in the Roland Levinsky Building, with information and academic staff on hand representing a variety of different courses in areas ranging from the arts to business. Organiser Susan Lynch said the event was likely to attract a number of graduates and professionals seeking to improve their qualifications in response to the recession. "There is now increased competition for jobs and many graduates are finding that a postgraduate qualification will boost their prospects so that they can use their enhanced skills to secure a good job when the economy picks up. We are also expecting professionals who are interested in further developing their skills because they have been made redundant or to simply maximise the career opportunities open to them," she said. The event has been organised as a drop-in session although anyone wishing to come along is asked to register in advance on the Postgraduate and Professional Open Evening webpages.
