The two-day residential course is designed to give Year 12 students an insight into studying veterinary medicine in general, and also to show the unique benefits of the Cambridge course  through a mixture of lectures, discussions, practical demonstrations and tours of preclinical departments, clinical areas and the Queens Veterinary School Hospital. Participants will stay overnight in Queens' College for a taste of life as a Cambridge undergraduate. Academic staff and current students will be on hand to answer questions and give advice on the applications process. Andy Jefferies, Director of Teaching at the Department of Veterinary Medicine , said "We believe it is important to broaden access to the veterinary profession. "In particular we would like to attract talented students from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds, from disadvantaged circumstances, and from families where there is no history of participation in higher education generally. "We hope that by offering bursaries for the VetCam course fee and travelling expenses, we will enable more students from these groups to take part, and to find out more about studying veterinary medicine at the University of Cambridge." -       For 2013, bursaries will be awarded on a first-come first-served basis to eligible applicants. Applications need to be made by the student's school or college -       Places on VetCam are limited and early booking is advised
