ANU Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Young and Chancellor Professor the Honourable Gareth Evans have been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours List. Professors Young and Evans were among several prominent Canberrans recognised for their contributions to Australia on Monday 11 June. Professor Young was made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to tertiary education through leadership, strategic management, research and academic roles, as an author, and to international education collaboration. Professor Young said: "I am honoured and humbled to be named in company with so many great Australians. This is a thrill for me and my family, but also recognition for colleagues who have supported and collaborated with me over the years. Professor Young congratulated the Chancellor, Professor Evans, a former Foreign Minister, who received the highest honour, Companion of the Order of Australia (AC). "This is well-deserved recognition of Gareth's significant international impact on a number of critical global issues, in our region and the rest of the world," Professor Young said.
