Wall of Global Alumni launched
University 11 Aug 10 A video wall featuring 70 Oxford alumni from around the world is launched on the University website today, after two alumni spent six months filming in 22 cities across 11 countries. 100 videos of alumni can be viewed on the 'Wall of Global Alumni', in which they discuss career choices, alumni networks, Rhodes Scholarships, internships and how Oxford continues to have a positive affect on their lives. Hannah Madsen, a Hertford alumna, and Tom Wilkinson, who studied at St Catz and St Antony's, interviewed 70 alumni and produced 200 films during their world tour which began in August 2009, and their journey is charted in a 'making of' film about the project. Interviewees included volunteers who run alumni societies and 30 Rhodes Scholars, and videos give prospective and current students an insight into what to expect at Oxford and beyond. The videos aim to profile the various careers open to current students, to show other alumni that there are many ways to get involved and maintain links to Oxford such as joining a local alumni group, and to capture interesting stories about what graduates from Oxford have gone on to do. Hannah Madsen said: 'This project has an element of reassuring current students that not everyone knew what they wanted to do when they left Oxford. We aimed to go out and find interesting stories about Oxford alumni that will appeal to current students, prospective students and alumni.
