Warren Bebbington is Adelaide’s new VC
The University of Melbourne's Deputy Vice-Chancellor (University Affairs), Professor Warren Bebbington, has been appointed the Vice-Chancellor of The University of Adelaide. Professor Bebbington will take up the post in July after taking leave from mid-May. "Saying goodbye to so many close colleagues at Melbourne will be no easy task: there is much about this great University I will miss deeply," he said. "But Adelaide has a blend of history and innovation that present many possibilities, and I am looking forward to being part of its future." Melbourne Vice-Chancellor Professor Glyn Davis said, ``I know colleagues will be keen to congratulate Professor Bebbington and thank him for his important contribution to this University and I'd like to add my voice to the chorus. "Over decades at Melbourne Professor Bebbington has served as long-term Dean of the Faculty of Music and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Global Relations) before taking on the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (University Affairs) portfolio. "As a teacher he won the University of Melbourne Award for Excellence in Teaching (Humanities) in 2005, and an Australian Learning and Teaching Council Citation for '30 years of outstanding teaching' in 2008. "The institutional groups he has established as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, including the Melbourne Partnerships and Engagement Office, remain integral to the mission of the University.
