George Eastman Visiting Professorship 2026-27, 2027-28 and 2028-29 82084 - 82084 The University invites expressions of interest in the George Eastman Visiting Professorship for the academic years 2026-27, 2027-28 and 2028-29. Applications are particularly encouraged in branches of study within the Medical Sciences Division and the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division in the first instance. Expressions of interest from the Humanities Division and the Social Sciences Division will also be considered.
Like previous holders of this distinguished chair, the successful visiting professors will be eminent in teaching and/or research.
This Professorship is open to citizens or permanent residents of the USA. There is no requirement that applicants be currently employed in the USA.

The George Eastman Visiting Professor is normally resident in Oxford for one academic year. However, expressions of interest for a minimum period of two terms (six months) will also be considered. The Professor is required to deliver at least one public lecture and to undertake an academic programme agreed in advance with the host department or faculty.
In parallel with holding the Chair, the Professor will be elected to a Professorial Fellowship at Balliol College. Suitable accommodation will be provided rent-free. A professorial stipend is payable for the year (pro rata for a shorter period), and the University will meet the reasonable cost of the Professor’s return airfare from the United States.
