Job SummaryThe Research Technician will provide technical assistance to the mouse and cryo-electron miscroscopy projects in the Chen lab at Caltech.Essential Job DutiesManage mouse colonies for the lab and receive training for basic surgery operations (e.g., removing specific tissues). Basic biochemistry and cell biology analyses of tissues and isolated cells. Assist cryoEM experiments. Assist lab members with their mouse experiments. Place orders for lab purchases and assist with lab procedures, i.e., set up equipment, prepare samples, specimens, solutions, reagents, cultures, etc. Diagnose and notify Principal Investigator and/or research personnel of any problems and/or issues related to equipment, research, etc. Apply advanced knowledge of laboratory and/or equipment cleaning products to assist personnel with multiple laboratory equipment to be cleaned or repaired.Basic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Biology or equivalent degree in related field with at least one year of relevant experience. Must have hands-on wet lab experience. Preferably mouse experiment experience. CryoEM experience not required. Must understand basic workflow and operations of laboratory research processes. Must be diligent and responsible for their own work.Preferred QualificationsPrior experience in mouse breeding and basic surgery. Prior experience in cryo-electron microscopy is a plus.Required DocumentsResume | |
