The Department of Applied Psychology and Human Development (APHD) at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto invites applications for a two-year full-time contractually limited term appointment (CLTA) in the area of Program Evaluation in Developmental or Educational Psychology. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. A renewal of up to three additional years may be possible, for a total appointment of up to five years. 

 

Applicants must have completed an Ed.D., Ph.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in Educational, Developmental or School Psychology by the date of appointment or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and student training. We seek applicants with demonstrated teaching and scholarly expertise in Program Evaluation, addressing problems of practice with relevance to Educational Psychology, whose teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental  strengths . The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, service and advising in the Developmental Psychology and Education Program. Candidates are expected to have a strong academic background and significant teaching, mentorship, and field experience in program evaluation. In addition, we are interested in candidates who have teaching and mentorship experience in one or more of the following:

  

• Research methodologies in designing, conducting, and interpreting quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research studies, with the ability to teach methodological reasoning, analytic decision-making, and evidence-based inquiry;
• Psychometrics involving instrument design and validation using classical test theory, item response theory, and contemporary measurement models, including applications to educational and developmental psychology.

 

The successful candidate will have experience in university teaching in a degree-granting program, preferably at the graduate level, including lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and student supervision and advising. The successful candidate will demonstrate their ability to combine disciplinary expertise with innovative, effective teaching methods, including the development of online materials and lectures that enhance the excellence and diversity of OISE’s scholarly community. Additionally, they must demonstrate their commitment to excellent pedagogical practices and their engagement in teaching-related scholarly activities.

 

Evidence of excellence in teaching, student training, and pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, strong letters of reference, and the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application (with required materials outlined below). 

  

The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of both core and interdisciplinary curricula within and across programs offered by the Department. Other responsibilities of the position include service to APHD and OISE and contributing to collaborative teaching and teaching-related research in online pedagogy that combines areas of expertise within APHD and fosters collaboration in programs and scholarly activities locally and internationally.

 

The salary range is $104,721 to $115,000 CAD per annum, depending on experience. Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
