Your opportunity:

As Senior Information Analyst, you will provide advanced expertise in data management, business analysis, and programming to ensure high-quality, reliable and accessible information. You will design and maintain data models, queries, and dashboards; develop automations that reduce manual effort; drive data integrity and governance practices; and translate stakeholder needs into scalable solutions. You will work closely with partners across VPRI, academic divisions, and central units to understand their information needs, manage expectations, and ensure consistent and trustworthy reporting. A key part of your role will involve supporting the development, maintenance, and enhancement of the University’s research discovery system, including contributing to features that improve the visibility of researchers and scholars across all disciplines.

Your work will directly support leadership decision-making, operational efficiency, and consistent reporting across VPRI and partner divisions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing and determining methodologies for data retrieval and manipulation
  • Developing and maintaining a dashboard for quick access to key performance indicators
  • Identifying and resolving systemic data integrity issues
  • Analyzing user needs and business processes to create programming solutions
  • Designing, testing, and modifying programming code
  • Analyzing and documenting business requirements
  • Liaising with stakeholders to identify business intelligence needs for the development of tailored reports
  • Serving as a resource on specific issues to a group of specialists


 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years relevant experience in querying (e.g. SQL), modelling, and analyzing complex datasets; building dashboards and reports (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, SSRS); and documenting standards and definitions.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and automating data pipelines and quality controls; strong SQL and proficiency in at least one analytics/programming language (Python, R).
  • Experience translating business requirements into technical specifications; developing test plans and conducting UAT.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases, BI/reporting tools, and principles of effective data visualization.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex analyses clearly to non-technical audiences; produce concise technical documentation; and deliver training.
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve data integrity issues; contribute to data standards and governance practices.
  • Strong project coordination skills in a multi-stakeholder environment; ability to balance priorities and meet deadlines with accuracy.


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Experience leading projects using Agile or DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience managing collaborative platforms (e.g. SharePoint)
