Your opportunity:

Under the direction of the Director, Learning Strategy Support, the Learning Programs Lead will oversee the ongoing design, development, and delivery of Learning Programs in the Centre for Learning Strategy Support (CLSS). The Learning Programs Lead is responsible for coordinating the day to day work of the Learning Strategists, and work study students; liaising with Divisional and university partners; representing CLSS on Student Life and University committees; overseeing day to day administration and communications; assessing programs and reporting on team expenditures.

The Learning Programs Lead is responsible for working with the Learning Strategists to develop multi layered academic resilience-building and learning support programming that foster academic skill development and coping strategies for an academically diverse population of full-time and part-time graduate and undergraduate students; recruiting, training and supporting professional and student staff to enhance programming co-delivered with appropriate partners; working with Student Life Communications and Information Technology to develop on-line and social media based materials and supports to enhance the program; engaging with faculty members and teaching and learning staff to develop programming that responds to the learning needs of students within specific programs and courses, examples may include course-specific in-class presentations and peer facilitated study sessions; and meeting individually and in small groups with students to clarify and problem solve individual issues related to effective learning and academic resilience.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Planning and overseeing operational workflow of program administration activities
  • Assessing needs and contributing to the development and implementation of plans and related activities
  • Planning and developing educational programs and courses independently
  • Conducting detailed analysis on program efficiency and student learning outcomes to inform program planning activities
  • Developing student assessment plans to supportstudent learning outcomes and competencies
  • Providing advanced academic and learning skills support
  • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
  • Directing the activities of a group of staff-appointed employees all performing a similar function


 

Essential Qualifications:

 

  • Master’s Degree in a related program of study (e.g. education) or an acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum five years in academic support in a multi-disciplinary setting to undergraduate and graduate students at the university-level
  • A thorough understanding of academic resilience and learning science scholarship and programming
  • Experience with and knowledge of best online practices, and the use of learning management systems
  • Must be an experienced and recognized facilitator of groups and developing of peer programs
  • Must be an experienced supervisor with previous responsibilities for mentoring, resolving issues, applying and implementing processes, and training staff
  • Must be able to demonstrate success in facilitating partnerships with constituents from a variety of institutional areas, and excellence in project management
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching
  • Demonstrated experience in program development, design, and assessment
  • Excellent computer skills (e.g. Access, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Superb interpersonal and communication skills for supervising the day-to-day work of staff, collaborating with faculty, fostering student development and negotiating conflict
  • Excellent skills in managing projects through effective setting of priorities and organization
  • Creative problem solving skills
  • Ability to initiate independent collaborations with faculty and staff to enhance students’ learning experiences and sense of belonging
  • Outstanding leadership skills to foster a supportive team environment
