Classification:  Academic Level B/C
Salary package: $121,598 - $162,281 (pro rata) plus 17% superannuation
Term: Part-Time (0.6FTE), Continuing

The Position

The School of Medicine and Psychology is seeking an Academic Coordinator to lead the delivery of Year 2 Clinical Skills within the four-year medical program. Based at the Canberra Clinical School, this role sits within the broader Clinical Skills curriculum and plays a key part in shaping the early clinical training of medical students.

The position oversees the delivery of Phase 1 Clinical Skills, with responsibilities including:

  • Developing and reviewing teaching plans and documentation
  • Delivering lectures and facilitating clinical skills teaching
  • Designing and reviewing assessment materials
  • Ensuring academic standards are met across the program
  • Contributing to continuous quality improvement of the Clinical Skills theme


A Level C appointee will additionally provide academic leadership across the Clinical Skills Program and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the medical curriculum.

The Person

The successful candidate will bring experience in tertiary-level medical education and a commitment to high-quality, research-informed teaching. The role requires strong collaboration with:

  • Clinical and academic colleagues
  • Professional staff across the School and College
  • Canberra Health Services
  • Local health service providers across the ACT and Southeastern NSW


The Academic Coordinator will be an effective communicator, an organised educator, and a collegial contributor to a dynamic teaching environment.

The School

The School of Medicine and Psychology (SMP) was established in 2023 to bring together expertise from Medicine and Psychology to develop a unique educational and research environment. The focus is to produce psychologists, researchers, and medical graduates who practice compassion, conscience and professional excellence, and with a knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and culture. The school partners with a number of healthcare organisations to deliver teaching and training including but not limited to ACT Health, community practices throughout the ACT and Southeastern NSW.

The College

The  ANU College of Science and Medicine  encompasses the disciplines of: Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Physics, and Medical Teaching and Research and is also home to a number of cross-disciplinary and specialist Institutes and Centres.  Staff and students within the ANU College of Science and Medicine conduct research and deliver a research-led education program that encompasses the breadth of the sciences, supported by extensive international networks and by world-class facilities.
