The Makinson Lab is seeking an Associate Research Scientist to investigate the neurobiology of sleep, sensation, and experimental epilepsy. The successful candidate will conduct in vivo and ex vivo neurophysiology, molecular biology, neuroimaging, and computational experiments, as well as assist in preparing study results for publication. Responsibilities: Design, perform, and analyze neurophysiology experiments using animal models of epilepsy Program and implement small animal sensory tasks Assist in preparing manuscripts and grant applications Collaborate with lab members on experimental design and data interpretation PhD in neuroscience or a related field Preferred Qualifications: 4 years of postdoctoral research experience or equivalent Publication in peer reviewed journals in the neuroscience field Proficient in Python programming Expertise in multiphoton imaging Expertise in scientific writing Expertise in patch clamp and in vivo electrophysiology Columbia University is an Equal Opportunity Employer / Disability / Veteran Pay Transparency Disclosure The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
