27.3.: Ringvorlesung "Jazz - the Classical Music of Globalization"
"Learning to listen, listening to learn" - unter diesem Thema bietet Prof. Reinhold Wagnleitner, FB Geschichte, eine öffentlich zugängliche Ringvorlesung an. Nächster Termin: 27.3., 17 c.t., : "A Highway the Whole World Will Swing along Tomorrow" (Ernest-Alexandre Ansermat). Ort: HS 380, Institutshaus für Gesellschaftswissenschaften, Rudolfskai 42. Jazz, the classical music of globalization, is the most important original US-contribution to the culture of modernity. Together with its illegitimate offshoots - from Rhythm & Blues to Rock 'n' Roll, from Soul via Funk to Hip Hop - the music generated immense cultural capital for the United States of America. On the other hand, jazz also became a major symbolic threat. The cultural footprints of the USA on this planet are at least as deep as its economic and geopolitical ones.
