ANU academics awarded for excellence

ANU Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Chubb has congratulated two ANU academics who have today been recognised for outstanding contributions to student learning in the 2010 Australian Awards for University Teaching. Associate Professor Christian Lueck from the ANU Medical School in the College of Medicine Biology and Environment and Dr John Minns, Director of the Australian National Centre for Latin American Studies (ANCLAS) in the ANU College of Arts & Social Sciences, have been recognised for their contributions to enhancing the quality of learning and teaching in higher education. 'Dr Lueck has been closely involved in the development of the neurology and final year teaching programs at the ANU Medical School since 2003. His research has contributed to several multi-centre clinical trails in stroke management,' said Professor Chubb. 'Dr Minns' award recognises his contribution to teaching Latin American politics and international relations. His passion for Latin America is infectious and has seen him recognised by the ANU Students Association as one of the leading teachers on campus. ?The Teaching Excellence award recognises the achievements of the ANU teaching staff and the unique learning environment they help create.
