The Australian Academy of Science's publication aims to provide clear answers about climate change questions.
The Director of the ANU Climate Change Institute Professor Will Steffen has welcomed The Australian Academy of Science publishing a clear statement about climate change. The publication - The Science of Climate Change: Questions and Answers - was prepared by Academy Fellows and other Australian scientists with internationally recognised expertise in climate science. It was launched at The Shine Dome on Monday. Written in plain and clear language, the publication aims to address confusion information in the public domain. It is available as a free download at: http://www.science.org.au/reports/climatechange2010.pdf Professor Steffen said the publication will be valuable addition to public and policy makers understanding of climate change. 'This document, produced by the most authoritative scientific body in Australia, is a welcome and important contribution to the public discourse on climate change,' he said. ?It acknowledges the significant uncertainties that surround our knowledge about how climate change will continue to unfold this century and beyond, but it makes it absolutely clear that we know two critical aspects of climate change with a very high degree of certainty; that climate change is real and is already happening; and human emissions of greenhouse gases are the primary cause.
