ANU launches new Indigenous Heritage Trail
The Australian National University (ANU) has launched a new Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Heritage Trail. ANU collaborated with the local Indigenous community, including members from the Ngambri, Ngunnawal, Ngunawal and Ngarigu groups to create the trail. ANU Heritage Officer Amy Jarvis said this was a significant project for the University. "Working with the local Aboriginal community has been such an honour and it is fantastic that ANU can provide an accessible platform for the local Aboriginal community to share their stories," Ms Jarvis said. Archaeologist Dave Johnston, Director of Aboriginal Archaeologists Australia, has worked closely with ANU on the project and engagement with Indigenous communities. "The ANU Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Heritage Trail represents an exciting partnership of engagement and cultural recognition," Mr Johnston said. "The local custodians have generously provided their stories, knowledge and history, to be presented within the Trail for all to see, learn and appreciate.
