Art event draws together different groups
Members of the public are being encouraged to pick up their pencils, join forces with a local charity, and take part in the Big Draw, a national campaign to encourage people to get drawing. The event will see members of the public participating alongside students of local Cambridge charity Rowan, using five Cambridge University Museums on five consecutive days to inspire drawn works of art. The free event is an opportunity for everyone to try their hand at drawing, explore some of the University's amazingly diverse collections and spend time with students of Rowan, which has provided artistic training and work experience to adults with learning disabilities for more than 20 years. People with little or no experience of drawing are welcome to take part in the free event. The Big Draw is aimed at bringing the public into the University's museums and deconstructing misconceptions surrounding learning disabilities by drawing members of the community together via the arts. It is an informal drop-in event and there is no need to book, or to stay for the entire event. Emma Wenborn, Community Affairs Officer at the University, said: "We are pleased to be hosting the Big Draw with Rowan.
